How to: Move Content from One WordPress Site to Another

WordPress is arguably the most efficient way to run a website, blog or any kind of website we can possibly imagine. It is free, flexible and has a solid ecosystem to back user needs. 

But do you know that there is a very handy feature in WordPress that will allow you to move content in and out of WordPress, for free? It is not only free, it is easy and as simple as it can get. 

There is a very straightforward tool in Dashboard which allows you to move our WordPress content ( posts, pages and media ) to another WordPress instance. 

In your existing WordPress instance,

Dashboard > Tools > Export 

the above option will allow you to export the whole content as an XML file which you can import to a new WordPress instance using 

Dashboard > Tools > Import

Once you click the Upload file and import button, give it some time to import the content to the new WordPress instance. 

Congrats! You will now be able to see the content imported as if you can copy pasted your old WordPress website to the new instance.

Please note that you will have to add the theme you used to get the exact visual appearance. This is only required if you are not transferring across the default WordPress theme.
